Graham started off the day with a nice sleep-in until 9AM (thanks baby). When Graham was up and fed, we headed to the library for a puppet show. Graham was way more interested in running up and down the aisles of books than sitting and listening to the talking dragon. We left the library and went straight to the park. Today, Graham was obsessed with the slides and took turns climbing the rock wall to the big slide and the ladder to the small slide. When we got home Graham napped and when he woke up, I took a picture, so we would always remember what our boy looked like the day he turned 18 months old:
After lunch, we headed to the shoe store, so my big 18 month old could get some new big boy shoes, and BIG they are. Graham got two pairs of size 7 shoes. Wow! His toes don’t even come close to reaching the end of the shoes, but he runs around in them fine, so I thought he deserved the big boy shoes. When we got home, we headed out on a long walk, so I could make sure Graham really could walk in those big, big shoes. I took some pictures of the dude and his big boy shoes and big boy soles in action, and after a long walk, he had proven to me that we had made the right decision:
We got home from our walk at the same time Daddy got home and Graham and Daddy played outside before dinner and played, and played around the house after dinner. Graham was one happy boy and went to sleep exhausted. It is hard work being a big 18 month old. Off to sleep land, sweet boy!
Other Cute Antics and Noteworthy Tidbits:
- Graham has figured out that the piano is what Daddy uses to play the ABC song, so now Graham sings the ABC song when he is banging on the piano.
- Graham had a fun play date at PEP this week. He loved the sand box (especially dumping sand all over himself) and he and his buddy River had a great time playing big boys in a real bed. Graham was a noisy player, but I quickly went to find him when he stopped making noise. It appeared that my boy needed to take a break from all the activity to read himself a book (17 months, 30 days old):
- Graham has started to call me “Mommy” instead of “Mama” sometimes. It melts my heart <3
- Graham went to a Yellowbird Music Class and fell in love with the teacher, so we are signed up for (and super excited for) the summer session (17 months, 23 days old):
- When Daddy is getting ready to give Graham a bath and says “go get your towel,” Graham runs into his room (screaming “towel, towel,”) opens his closet, selects a towel, and carries it (flung over his head and shoulders) back into the bathroom! He also does the same thing when Mommy asks him to get his shoes so we can “go.”
- Graham is a big fan of “go”, “outside”, “leave”, and “car” because he knows they all mean that he is about to have an adventure.
- Graham and his buddies had a play date at Penelope’s house and they looked so cute lined up on the couch like big kids for their picture (17 months, 21 days old):
- Graham has gotten really good at identifying his books by name. He picks up a book and uses his words to identify the book. He says “who” for Horton Hears a Who!, “beep, beep or blue” for The Little Blue Truck, “Goofy” for Goofy and the Miller, “Ah whe wha wha” for I Went Walking, “moon” for Goodnight Moon, etc. What a smarty pants :)
- Graham went inside a pet store for the first time. We always pass the store on the way into Trader Joes and Graham points at the pictures of the dogs and woofs. I decided to give him a treat and go inside. He loved looking at the fish and was fascinated by the birds (17 months, 29 days old):
- Graham keeps getting better and better at the slide. Here he is going down the big slide all by himself (17 months, 23 days old):
- We just hung a family photo in the living room of when Graham was 6 months old. He points to it all day long and says “Dada, Dada.” Today, Nick pointed to himself in the picture and asked who it was. Graham said, “Dada.” Next, Nick pointed to me and asked who that was. Graham said, “Mama.” Finally, Nick pointed to Graham (in the picture) and asked who that was. Graham said, “baby.”
