Visual Cliff (6 months, 21 days old)

In PEP today, we decided to recreate psychologists E.J. Gibson and R.D. Walk’s classic infant depth perception experiment with our own version of a ‘visual cliff’.  Our meeting was at Talina and Baby Laurel’s stunning ultra-modern home.  We put all the babies on a clear glass slab over an open stairwell.  In the original psychology experiment, babies are supposed to sense danger and avoid what appears to be a drop into space.  Well… some may say that our babies failed the test, but I choose to believe that our babies assessed the situation and determined that there was no real danger and proceeded to make the most of the new fun play spot.  They sure were cute (and didn’t look scared at all)!
