Lane Farms has everything from livestock and a hay bale ride to a talking scarecrow and corn maze, but Graham’s absolute favorite was the array of vintage tractors that he was able to sit on.
The first time we went, Graham was joined by Mommy, Daddy, Alethea, and Mark.
He wasted no time getting right to his favorite activity: sitting on the tractors:
Every time the working tractor (running the hay bale rides) drove by, Graham stared in amazement:
After one false start (because Graham got nervous), we took a family hay bale ride with Graham in his own seat, acting like such a big boy:
Next, it was off through the corn maze. I was actually worried we would lose him at one point as he ran at full speed around the corners. Luckily we didn’t get in too deep before he changed his mind and ran back out:
We did make several attempts to get Graham interested in the pumpkins, mostly so we could take some sweet pictures like we had done last year, but he was not interested at all. He pushed around a wagon and made an attempt to lift a large pumpkin but mostly just ran by the pumpkins in search of another tractor:
We dropped Graham into the playpen full of hay, but he wanted out of there right away:
He did have some fun dancing on top of a hay bale, enjoying his new found height:
Our last stop was to visit the animals. Graham saw a turkey, donkey, and horse, but was most interested in the pen holding the goats and pot belly pig. When he tried to climb in to join them, we knew it was time to head out:
Our next visit to Lane Farms was with Elizabeth and Zane. They drove all the way to Santa Barbara for a play date. We started off at Growing Times where Graham had fun in the toy car:
Zane was a little young for the class so we left early and went to the pumpkin patch. Graham had to show Zane the fun tractors right away. Both boys were very serious about it:
Next, Zane showed Graham how to enjoy a pumpkin:
Finally, while Zane was off enjoying the windmill, Graham discovered the talking scarecrow. I’m not sure how they made it work, but this scarecrow had an interactive conversation with Graham and was very excited to learn that Graham plans to dress up as a scarecrow for Halloween. Graham mostly just stared with his mouth wide open at the talking scarecrow but he did manage a "hello" and wave goodbye:
As always, Lane Farms is such a treat in our community and with two visits, it seemed extra special this year!
