Graham gets a filling! (G: 5 years, 3 months, 24 days old)

Graham got a filling today and keeping to his 'chill' personality, he was an absolutely perfect patient.  He didn't have a cavity or any decay in his tooth, but he was born with some irregular enamel in the spot and the dentist thought it would turn into a problem area if we didn't proactively seal it up.
Graham was very excited and had been looking forward to his dentist appointment for weeks.
He felt very special when I came to pick him up from school for his big appointment.
When we got to the dentist, I had to sign waiver forms as she explained that even 'good' kids sometimes have a really hard time with the procedure and I should expect tears and a fight from Graham.  I just smiled and nodded but knew my big boy would surprise them all.
He was a champion and left feeling just as positive about going to the dentist as he felt when he went in (but with a shiny new sealed tooth).

So happy to be learning about the procedure that was about to take place.  Dr. Annie explained that she would create a cave in his tooth and fill the cave with a special shield and seal the door tight, so no cavity bugs could ever get in.

She did an entire test run of the procedure on his finger.

She said to give a thumbs up if he was doing ok.  He kept his thumb up until they eventually told him that he could put it down, so I took the opportunity to photograph his thumbs up and also his finger with the enamel smiley face from the practice run procedure.  He was so happy to take his smiley face finger back to school for show and tell, so his classmates could see what his tooth shield was made out of.

He also enjoyed watching the progress with his own mirror.
