Graham had his 1 year checkup today. He was really excited to have both Mommy and Daddy at the appointment. He came through with flying colors!
Our little smarty is measuring in with a head in the 90th percentile at 48 cm and he continues to be long and lean with a height of 29 ¾ inches (50th percentile) and a weight of 20lbs 11oz (25th percentile).
Our major concern for Graham continues to be his ‘gruffling’ (loud breathing). I had diagnosed Graham as having enlarged adenoids, but the doctor dismissed that idea once he heard that Graham sleeps with a pacifier every night. The doctor thought that Graham may have small airways, but he wasn't worried at all because he said that many babies are born that way and the airways just grow with the child. Even so, he ordered a chest x-ray to make us feel better. We got some great pictures of Graham in his little doctor’s-office-gown and the x-ray technician said he was a VERY cooperative patient:
We got all the pictures that we needed on the first try and the x-rays came back completely clear!
Graham also had some immunizations and a blood draw (checking for lead exposure which also came back negative). Graham and I used our tried and true technique of having him consume a bottle while he was getting the shots and the nurses were really impressed by how well he handled everything. One nurse said it made her day to work with Graham and another nurse stayed to observe because she couldn't believe how well Graham was doing. I was one proud mama:
At a year, our little guy is healthy and happy. We couldn’t ask for anything more :)
