Yellow Bird – A star is born (19 months, 19 days old)

Graham signed up for Yellow Bird Music this summer and he has been having a great time.  We have had to miss quite a few of the classes due to our travel schedule, but when we are in town, he jumps right in as though he never left. 
At class today, he put on his most charming look and flirted with the teacher as she taught him how to strum the ukulele.  As a side note, I thought I would mention that his ukulele has become a permanent fixture in the car now and once he is strapped into his car seat, “le le” is the first thing he requests.  Usually, a few minutes into the drive, I’ll hear a crash as he tosses his ukulele onto the floor where it stays until the start of the next car trip, but those first few minutes in the car always go best with his ukulele in hand:

Graham thought it was great fun to spin around a hula hoop and managed to avoid making contact with any of the other kids.  Phew, way to go big boy:

The main event of class today was the solo song performances.  First all the kids got up on the performance platform together.  Check out the toy microphones:

Next were the solos.  Graham was a champ and loved being on the platform with all eyes on him (hence the post title of a star being born):

He loved the attention so much, that when it was Penelope’s turn, Graham tried to steal the spotlight:

Graham was very independent during class and didn’t spend much time looking for me or keeping me near, but he seemed to develop a crush on one of the other mommies and he scooted his way into her lap (regardless of if her own child was occupying the spot or not) every chance he got.  It was too funny and I had to take a picture:

Of course, being the reality TV obsessed person that I am, it didn’t hurt me that Graham’s crush was on Ivana Firestone, the wife of Andrew Firestone (my favorite bachelor of all time from the TV show “The Bachelor”).  Looks like my son has good taste :)  And an interesting side fact, Ivana was very curious to know how Graham’s leg was healing because, apparently, Andrew Firestone broke his leg as an infant, too!
Graham is always ready for his nap at the end of Yellow Bird, but he woke up from his nap today singing the “hello” song that they sing at the start of each class.  Looks like he can’t wait for our next trip to Yellow Bird.
