Visit with Granddaddy and Grandma Millington (12 months, 6 days old – 12 months, 16 days old)

Granddaddy and Grandma Millington arrived in California on December 29th, 2010 to ring in the new year.
We took advantage of some wonderful weather to go visit the Monarch Butterfly Preserve.  The adventure began with a gorgeous walk along the coast:

When we made it to the preserve, we were not disappointed!  There were hundreds of butterflies in clumps in the trees and others along the path that Graham could see up close and personal:

On the walk back we saw the most incredible display of dolphins (a little hard to capture in a picture):

I saw the dolphins leaping and playing in the water.  I have always believed that seeing dolphins in the wild is good luck, so it was a perfect experience to kick off the New Year’s Eve celebration.
After the walk, we all got ready for a delicious meal at Stella Mare’s.  We had a gourmet 5 course meal and all the Champagne we could drink:

Graham was especially a fan of the Christmas tree that was still up through the new year:

We said goodbye to Granddaddy and Grandma Millington as they went off to Palm Springs and then we all met up again in Laguna Beach for a mini family reunion at Aunt Jan’s house.  (Nick’s parents, aunt, and cousins with their boyfriends).  Graham hung out with family before dinner:

played with his first Christmas Popper during dinner:

and bonded with Great Aunt Jan and her doggie Max before we left:

Even though Graham had fun with all the activities, his favorite part of the visit with his grandparents was special playtime at home:

Right before Granddaddy and Grandma Millington left, Graham also got a special treat of being allowed to grab Granddaddy’s face and mouth (one of his favorite, but mostly not allowed activities):

We bid Granddaddy and Grandma Millington farewell as they traveled back to Japan, but before they left, no visit would be complete without this special picture.  3 generations of Millington men:
